Hamilton Clay Target Club Monthly competition. Saturday November 17 2007.

Last Saturday in very pleasant conditions over 30 shooters contested two events.
The first event was the 50 target Double Barrel President’s Graded event.  After the first 25 targets were completed
Allan Cameron of Wimmera, Murray Gruar, Hamilton, Wal Wombell, Myamyn, Steven Linke, Hamilton,
Geoff McLean Tyrendarra,  Peter Cleggett and Allan Pollock both of Hamilton were all on 25/25.
After the final 25 targets were finished only Allan Pollock remained without a missed target so was
duly awarded the overall winner’s and the AA grade sash, scoring 50/50.

Hamilton Club cleaned up by taking the sashes in all grades. Runner-up in the AA grade was Hamilton’s
Murray Gruar on 49/50. The A grade needed a shoot-off between Stephen Collins and Trevor Pevitt of Tyrendarra who had both scored 48/50 with Collins taking out the shoot-off. B grade was won by Scott Davis of Hamilton with a score of 47/50 and Mel Gruar, Hamilton being runner-up.
In C grade young Ethan Manders, of Hamilton who has only been shooting for just a few months was very
delighted to receive his first sash, which is prized by all the junior shooters. Manders scored a very credible 41/50 to take the grade from Peter McIntyre also of Hamilton and a score of 38/50.

The second event was a 25 target single barrel competition. Only 2 shooters, Pevitt of Tyrendarra and
Mal Dyson of Warrnambool shot a perfect 25/25.
In the shoot-off Pevitt scored 33/33 to take the A grade and Overall Sash. Dyson won the AA grade section with 32/33 from Gruar of Hamilton on 24/25.
Runner up to Pevitt in A grade was Collins of Hamilton.
B grade saw the ladies showing the men how to do it, with Mel Gruar winning on 23/25 from Cydoni Younie on 21/25.
C grade saw Grant Stevenson of Hamilton won with a score of 15/25 from young Ethan Manders on 13/25.

At the end of the serious events the club staged a fun “off the box” event with shooters shooting of the 25 metre mark, which is the back mark on the range This caused a few shooters to have a few tries to shoot a target from this mark. The only ones to get past the first three positions were Peter Cleggett, Sam Cuttler and Brad Manders with Cuttler outlasting the other two to take the prize.

Next month is the club Christmas Shoot with lots of fun and prizes to be won followed by a BBQ tea to round off a very successful year..
