Last Saturday, in very hot conditions, and 25 years to the day that the club was burnt in the Ash Wednesday fires Hamilton conducted their monthly competition with over 30 shooters braving the heat to participate.
The first event was a 50 target double barrell shot in two sections. After the first 25 target were shot Only Sam Cuttler of Hamilton ( B grade), Trevor Pevitt of Tyrendarra (A grade) Alan Cameron from Horsham (A grade) and Roger Duthie of Hamilton (AA grade) were on a perfect 25/25. After the next 25 targets only Pevitt, Cameron and Duthie had shot the perfect 50/50 score, Cuttler dropping a shot. After the shoot-off the overall winner was Alan Cameron with a score of 87/87 from Roger Duthie on 86/87. Grade winners were;-
AA grade Roger Duthie 86/87 from Allan Pollock of Hamilton with 61/63. A grade was overall winner Cameron from Trevor Pevitt with 78/79. Sam Cuttler with 49/50 took the B grade award from Harry Vaughan of Hamilton, who scored 45/50. C grade was won by Brad Manders of Hamilton on 48/50 from Russell Edwards also from Hamilton on 44/50.

Second event was an all grades handicap over 25 targets. Winner was the very consistent Trevor Pevitt of Tyrendarra, shooting from the 19 metre mark and scoring a perfect 25/25 from Hamilton’s Russell Edwards off 15 metres with a score of 23/25. A shoot-off was needed to find the third place getter which went to Gary Jennings of Warrnambool on 21 metres and a score of 25/28.
